Happy Holidays

Hello hello!

What a fall and winter. Christmas hit me by surprise again. You sleep, you work, you move your things, you try to make appointments with electrians and boom the year is over. I like my new job and we already produced three productions and I have not wrote a single line on my blog about it. Basically one new dance show per month and I write programm booklets like I write postcards kind off. Please check the theaters website, if you like to follow us and see what I am up to: www.nationaltheater-mannheim.de

Finding an small and affordable appartment in Mannheim was tricky, but after three months it worked out. It was the first time in my life, that I moved into a flat without a kitchen and somehow I thought it can’t be that difficult to build one…well it was. Nils and I spent hours in construction markets and without the help of Johannes who has a small convertible and offered to help me with “a few boards and a mattress” I still would have sore muscles…like I had after carring boards home, because I thought it can’t be that difficult to carry home (alone) a slatted frame for the new bed. You know these moments, when you overestimate your strength!?? I am sure you do.

I hope you all – my I know you or not – had some time to do what you love this year. I started taking guitar lessons in March and it’s just cool to learn new stuff! Took me years to until I finally enrolled in a music school and Klaus, the teacher, is so patient with me. Step by step. If you want to learn new things you always can. That said, let’s make some plans and let’s hope that next year will be great too. Happy holidays!!!

Christmas market in Heidelberg.

Too close to call…

I’m still hoping. Can’t believe that this election race is so close again…go Arizona go – go Nevada go!!! Glad that so many people voted (waiting for hours in some areas) during this Pandamic! This is a free election. It matters for the US and for the world. Thank you. Good night.

Bye-bye Rostock

I have had some wonderful last days in Rostock and moving away  yesterday was not easy for me. Do you know these moments when you look out of the window and you realize “I like it here” and you start to sniff…and then big tear drops roll down your cheeks and you tell yourself “stop weeping”. I know there is nothing to worry about. I found a new job in Berlin for now and sure enough I will find other places with a shore close by – I’m adventures -, but still: saying goodbye is never easy, if you like a place and the people. I felt it before in Halifax and in Oban…just the first time that I got so emotional while moving on in Germany.

Hi, Hello, Salut, Kia ora! Great, that you found this Blog!

I’m Corinna, a thirty-something woman from Germany. I started blogging in 2014, because I made a long trip to New Zealand and I thought it would be great to share my adventures and thoughts with the world. The trip was all about traveling, meeting new people, trying new things and reflect a little more on what really matters to me. If you want to learn more about it read:

The year abroad is already over, but I still want to write and share my thoughts, so I decided to create this new Blog ReiseKulturGedanken (TravelCultureThoughts). I usually write in English or German and blog about topics like art, dance, theatre and travelling. Sometimes about random things too. Check out my bucket list to find out more about my future plans and don’t forget to write my, if you want to read your name on my Hello Blogger.

Backround? I studied Theater, Communication & Media and American Studies at the University in Leipzig and all of those subjects really refect my interests. After living in France (studies) and Canada (work & travel) my trip to New Zealand (work & travel) was the third long-term stay abroad and I enjoy to share my experiences. I always feel a Wanderlust and therefore don’t really know what to do next here back home. Writing is a great way to think and come up with new ideas for me, so I guess that is, why I am here and what this is all about. Love to hear feedback from you on both Blogs!

All the best,

Corinna
